Mentoring: The Art of Arts and the Good Life with Dale Parker

Who is the one person who changed the direction of your life? And who might you be that person for? This week we sit down with Dale Parker, a classicist, a tutor at Thomas Aquinas College, and the author of Mentoring: The Art of Arts. We talk about what he learned from the older student who first took him under his wing, what Aristotle has to say about happiness, why most of us are chasing the wrong problem, and how to hear hard advice without getting defensive.
It’s a conversation for any young man who wants a mentor and isn’t sure how to find one, and just as much for the man who suspects he has something to offer and doesn’t know where to start!
About Dale: Dale Parker earned his bachelor’s degree in classics from the University of Notre Dame in 2013, then a master’s and a PhD in classics from UCLA, finishing in 2018. He has taught at Notre Dame’s Mendoza College of Business, where he mentored in the Business Honors Program for three years, and at St. Thomas More Academy in South Bend. Since 2025 he has been a tutor at Thomas Aquinas College.
